My academic background is Mathematics. While I spent my undergraduate studies in my hometown of Munich and a semester abroad in Helsinki, I went to Copenhagen to pursue a Masters degree in Mathematics. I used my studies in Copenhagen to delve into algebraic topology and stable homotopy theory. It was a challenge to internalize the techniques and formalisms of these fields, but on the other hand it was rewarding to become aware of the subtle structures and patterns which become visible through these tools. In addition to homotopy theory I also did some functional programming.
As a PhD student in the iMIRACLI network I will work at the German Aerospace Center in Jena under supervision of Jakob Runge. I will work on refining methods of causal inference in certain contexts with the hope of gaining insights into processes in the climate system. I hope that I will be able to utilize both my intuition for Mathematics and my experience gained as part of the iMIRACLI research network to contribute to our understanding of the climate system.
